The mountain lodge Schlüterhütte – also called Rifugio Genova – awaits you surrounded by lush alpine meadows at 2,306 meters above sea level. Enjoy the peaceful silence of the mountains and the striking beauty of the surrounding nature during your overnight stay. After all, you will be spending the night in the heart of the Nature Park Puez-Geisler, part of the Dolomites – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After a long hike, the warm hospitality of the lodge owners Marlene and Martin and their team will welcome you in the quaint alpine hut with its wood-panelled walls. In the cosy guest lounge, you may enjoy delicious meals – for example “Kaiserschmarren” (Tyrolean pancakes) – and then look forward to the traditional hut feeling in your room or dormitory.

Spending the night in an alpine hut
a wonderful mountain experience

The lodge was built in 1898 and has been lovingly maintained and improved ever since. Every year from mid-June to mid-October, the Schlüterhütte turns into a welcome refuge for hikers, mountaineers, and mountain bikers in the heart of the fantastic mountain world between the Villnöss Valley and the Ladin Dolomite valleys. After a long day in your hiking boots, you may stretch your legs in the cosy lounge or on the sun terrace and enjoy a glass of South Tyrolean beer or a refreshing drink, accompanied by homemade specialties such as bacon dumplings or game goulash. Everything tastes so much better in the fresh mountain air and in good company.

In the comfortable alpine lodge Schlüterhütte you may spend the night on the mountain in rooms with or without bed linen or, more typical of a quaint hut, in the mattress dormitory. All bedrooms are simply and lovingly furnished. Toilets and a lavatory inside the lodge are available for communal use. And you may even take a shower a shower at 2,306 meters above sea level on your hiking holiday in South Tyrol. Before you continue your tour, a small breakfast buffet awaits you.

Hiking, climbing or mountain biking
in the South Tyrolean mountain world

Starting from the car park Zans, you may reach the alpine lodge Schlüterhütte after an easy two-hour hike – or by mountain bike. If you are planning to spend a multi-day holiday, starting from our mountain hut you may embark on challenging high-altitude hikes in the Geisler Group or to the Peitlerkofel. The Dolomite high-altitude trails 2 and 8 and the long-distance hiking trail Munich-Venice also lead directly past the lodge Schlüterhütte.

This was the best refugio i stayed at during Alta via 2. Such a beautiful location, worth it after a strenuous hike. Very good and friendly service. I ordered spaghetti bolognese and received it within 5 minutes of ordering, and it was a big portion too for only 10€.

Great hut in a great location. My wife and I stayed here on a Tuesday night in early October. We were able to take 5min hot showers for 3€ each. The property is very well maintained, and the food is quite good. Breakfast was basic but (or perhaps because) all-you-can-eat. We were welcomed, and staff was always very friendly. The only real limitations were: 1. The rooms were utterly unheated and outright cold (probably 10°C). The provided bedding was sufficient to keep you warm at night, but it was hard to regulate your sleeping temps, because sticking your foot or arm out from below the comforter would cause you frost bite within 15 minutes. 😉 So some low-grade heating of the rooms would've been appropriate. 2. There are no power outlets inside the rooms and you have to charge your phones in the hallway.

Hard beds. Small blankets. Creaky floor. Full of smelly pensioners. They expect everyone to eat breakfast at exactly the same time which creates a huge queue, a cramped dining space and makes for a not-so-peaceful morning experience. I would walk past this place if I had the choice.

OMG this is such a nice Refugio to stay. Very beautiful location with great views, very convenient stop for Dolomite VS2 hikers. The dinner is good. We had beef stew which is super tasty - definitely Italy mama’s recipe and cook. Room is very nice too like it was just remodeled. The host is very nice and always wanted to help. This is our first stop for the 11 day VS2 hiking and a really good start.
