History
of the mountain lodge Schlüterhütte
Tradition and Hospitality in the Dolomites
The mountain lodge Schlüterhütte was built in 1898 by the Dresden merchant Franz Schlüter and handed over to the Dresden section of the German-Austrian Alpine Association (DuÖAV). After the First World War the lodge fell to the Italian state and was handed over to the Genoa section of the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI) for administration. Since 1999the Schlüterhütte is owned by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano – South Tyrol.
An important chapter began in 1964, when Anton and Katharina Messner took over the management of the lodge. For 25 years they took care of mountaineers and hikers with great dedication. In 1990 they passed the hut on to their son Günther, who, together with his wife Marlene, continued to focus on the well-being of their guests. Günther devoted himself with great passion to the maintenance and further development of the lodge. Unfortunately, his work was interrupted by a serious illness, and he died in December 2007.
Commitment & Passion
Since 2008 Marlene is managing the lodge together with Günther‘s brother Martin with the same commitment and passion. Both ensure that the Schlüterhütte remains a place where hikers and mountaineers feel welcome, and the tradition of hospitality is maintained.
Today, the lodge Schlüterhütte is not only a symbol of the beauty of the Dolomites, but also of the dedication of the people who have shaped it, across generations. Come by and experience what it means to be part of this history!
